Civil Rights Team

by Civil Rights Team Member Olivia S

Yesterday, the Civil Rights Team attended a training in Brewer. There were at least 18 other teams there, from other schools. Brandon Baldwin is the schools and curriculum coordinator for the Maine Civil Rights Team Project. He ran the training yesterday, and he is so energetic and excited about what he does, and he loves it. Brandon put together a presentation for us throughout the day. One of the activities that we did was called “Community Circles.” This was when one member from each team from each school would get in groups. There would be one facilitator at each group. He/she had an orange paper that had certain prompts on it. We could go around the circle, and answer the prompt. During this activity, we met students from other schools. We learned so much, and most importantly, learned what The Maine Civil Rights Team Project is.
